Túnicas
These beautiful handwoven robes, túnicas, are created in a woman’s cooperative in the rural village of San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala. The artisan delicately weaves this intricate robe using a backstrap loom. Natural dyes are made from plants, herbs and proper harvesting times dependent upon the moonlight. Harvesting on the full moon creates more vibrant colors while harvesting on the new moon produces softer hues. Nature is forever awe-inspiring!
