Highland Chamarras
In the mountainous highlands of Guatemala, low temperatures and high altitude favor the quality of wool’s durability and warmth. Local sheep's wool in natural colors of beige, light brown, chestnut brown and black are used to create these wonderfully plush blankets. The wool is hand washed with a root bark and water, hand brushed to rid of natural debris, hand spun into threads, handwoven using a pedal loom, weaving traditional patterns of the local Mayan community. These handmade, thick, cozy blankets are perfect for keeping warm on a cold evening...snuggle up and enjoy!
